Rewrite
[edit]This article needs to be rewritten. The bio is lifted word for word from the CBS web site. I don't have time to do all of the rewriting now. --Bookworm857158367 13:30, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
There is also another article for this one here. Someone needs to agree on which one to use.Hewinsj 12:58, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
It makes sense to have a separate article, but a dab is necessary since there are those who will be expecting to see infomation about the original version. I've added this. 23skidoo 13:27, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Clean up
[edit]I've done some revision here. For one thing the article was partly in past-tense which you aren't supposed to use for fictional characters (in order to avoid "in-universe" style). Second, there needed to be more links to the original version. I decided not to simply port over the discussion of the new character from the article on the 1970s version because it mostly dealt with early press reports about casting, etc. which are now outdated since the series is under way. Although he does not seem to receive screen credit, I feel it's important to acknowledge Kenneth Johnson as the creator of the character, as well as Martin Caidin, who set the original groundwork (and who was credited for same in the original series). 23skidoo 13:48, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've done some additional work, reorganizing the sections and updating information based on the latest episodes. I'm a little concerned that the critical reaction section (which I renamed) is weighted too far on the negative side and at almost seems like an excuse to post criticisms of the series and the character. I've seen this sort of thing happen in other articles where there is a strong pro- and con- element, and we have to be careful that, in reporting criticisms like this, we don't tip the scale to the wrong side of WP:POV. Not saying what's there isn't good or reasonable -- and it's well-cited -- I'm just saying that I wouldn't encourage the criticism section to get that much bigger. The show is also getting a lot of good reviews and response, too. 23skidoo 17:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
You're completely right. I'm working on a rewrite of both articles in my sandbox, here.~ZytheTalk to me! 20:14, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Useful sources
[edit]If you come across a magazine article, newspaper, scientific journal or magazine, review etc. which refers to the character (either new or old) you'd help infinitely by listing them here, thanks! They'd all go towards making the article more thorough, balanced and grounded by a "real-world" perspective. ~ZytheTalk to me! 20:16, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Middle name an homage?
[edit]Is her name Wells as an homage to Rudy Wells from the original series? RahadyanS 14:40, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
- Never mind. Just saw in the main article that it is. RahadyanS 14:41, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
